Trust in the Lord by Andy Olsen 8/4/2018

As human beings, we tend to think that we have things figured out, and the
things that we don't have figured out, we search, and study until we feel that we do
have them figured out. The things that we just can't wrap our heads around, we try to
explain away, making excuses for the Creator of the universe. When in reality it is
us that is in need of an excuse.
God wants us to trust Him, and not spend our lives trying to figure out how
to make His word work. I've heard different preachers try to lay out a formula to
cause God's promises to “come to pass” in our lives. Or maybe draft that perfect
prayer that would get the Fathers attention, and cause Him to move on our behalf.
But in reality, we were created to trust Him. We should study His word. In Proverbs
4: 20 – 23 tells us to pay attention to His words. Don't let them leave our sight; Keep
them in our heart; Because they are life to those who find them, and health to all
their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
Unfortunately, many of us are so busy trying to “figure it out”, or making
excuses for the Father, that we aren't able to pay attention to His words. Rather than
actually listening to someone, we tend to spend the time that someone else is talking,
thinking about what we will say, or do next. It's hard to retain much that way.
Proverbs 3: 5 – 6 says; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not
on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct
your paths.
It seems like we want to trust others to hear from God, and give us words to
direct our paths. Like the Pastor, or Elder, or someone on the board of some
denominational headquarters somewhere. But Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 clearly says that He
(God) shall direct your paths. In Mark chapter 7 Jesus tells us that.
